Server Swap!
Written by dh

After a long run here on MMOIRC, gadgetzan.mmoirc.com is retiring and being withdrawn from use. This was one of two 'main' user servers (the third is for CGI clients) and so has well deserved it's leave!

After the calculations, you may think we now have only one 'main' server, but that's not right! As the title suggests, there's a 'swap'. To take the place of gadgetzan.mmoirc.com, we have a new server, deathknight.mmoirc.com, joining the team. It's a slightly better box than the last!

So if you connect using gadgetzan's IP or DNS, this will no longer work; please update your clients to use deathknight.mmoirc.com, us.mmoirc.com or preferably irc.mmoirc.com (our 'round robin').

Thank you for using MMOIRC and your consistant support!

Best wishes,

dh

We are planning to become more active. A lot more active in the channels.

Let this be a pre-warning, we will take action if users dont start acting like adults.

We hope all channel operators can understand our point of view and are willing to work with us.

Thanks.

After a 4 week trial of harpy.mmoirc.com a final voting was placed for the admins.

After the poll results were made known to the admins and our opinions were made clear, we had no other choice than to decline a permanent link to the network.

Jon' had delinked his server pretty fast after this which caused some users to get cut off the network, we are very sorry for them and hope they will get back on MMOIRC very soon.

WoWIRC Has Changed Names
Written by Tranqer

What? Names? -Yes, names.

In the process of making the network a more general Gaming network specially for mmorpg's we decided to rename ourselfs from WoWIRC to MMOIRC.  Most servers have recieved a new name and network name and future emails will come from mmoirc.com addresses.  Those servers that haven't been renamed yet will be changed over the next 24 hours.  We will also update the server list and MOTD's to reflect the changes.

Not all of the server names are changing.  gadgetzan.wowirc.com will keep its name as a tribute to WoWIRC, so that we don't forget where we came from.

Script Changes

As a result of the name change, any scripts that you may have had that were triggered based on network name will need to be updated to reflect the new network name, MMOIRC.

Software Upgrades

In addition to the name changes, we took the opportunity to upgrade our IRC server software to the latest version.  We also upgraded our services package at the same time.

Users shouldn't notice anything different as a result of the software upgrades.  These patches contained bugfixes and some other small changes that make managing the network easier.
